Whether it’s a weekend getaway or a tropical vacation, planning a trip and what to bring along is always stressful. God forbid the luggage gets lost and doesn’t arrive your destination, leaving you frustrated and in dire need of a cocktail. We had a chance to sit down and chat with fashion and lifestyle blogger, Janet Mandell, who discussed her must-have carry-on items. Janet’s insight allows for us to prepare and prevent total despair by making sure your carry-on is equipped with the essentials.
Sunglasses are a lifesaver no matter where you go. If there isn’t enough time to apply makeup once the plane has landed or just one of those days where you don’t feel like dealing with people, then sunglasses are the perfect move. Take it from Janet – the fashionista doesn’t leave the house without a pair of sunnies. Her go-to pair of the moment is Givenchy’s 65mm Round Aviator Sunglasses. “They’re such a fun accessory that just can completely pull an outfit together,” she says.
Fun in the sun is a must, especially when you’re on a trip. Janet says sometimes the first thing she wants to do when she hops off a plane is hit the pool or beach. Having a swimsuit in your carry-on makes it easy and convenient to head straight there. Janet’s favorite swimsuit to throw in her carry-on is a floral Zimmermann two-piece. With a little ruffle trim, this suit is feminine and looks good on everybody!
3. A Scarf
The airport is so unpredictable in regards to the temperature. Sometimes I feel as if I’m sitting in a sauna or am shivering uncontrollably. Janet always includes her favorite Hermes scarf in her carry-on to be prepared for tundra-like airport conditions. Janet describes the scarf as “bold and beautiful” saying it keeps her warm + stylish!
Let’s be honest, as fun and exciting as traveling is- it’s exhausting! Janet says that by having her concealer in her carry- on allows her to quickly apply and feel/look refreshed. The concealer that “works wonders” is the Urban Decay, Naked Skin Weightless Complete Coverage Concealer.
5. Healthy Snacks
Traveling always makes us hungry and it’s easy to snack on unhealthy foods that are at your convenience. Janet says a good way to avoid the bad snacks is by keeping a bag of “The Little Kernal Mini Popcorn” in her carry-on. The popcorn is tasty and light, which satisfies any craving. It is popped in 100% olive oil and is made with whole grains, making it a much healthier alternative.
